Maintain Assistant

No prior glass art experience is required for the Maintain Assistant position at Pilchuck Glass School. You will join a team of three that assists the year-round maintenance crew with various projects across the campus. The workday starts at 8:30 AM and ends at 5:00 PM. This role welcomes individuals of all experience levels in glass, including artists interested in learning about glass as well as those who enjoy outdoor, hands-on work. A passion for teamwork and a willingness to tackle a variety of labor-intensive tasks are essential.

Recommended Experience:

• Must possess a valid driver’s license, as the crew drives around campus daily
• Interest in glass and enthusiasm for being part of an art school community
• Enjoy outdoor, hands-on work including building maintenance and landscaping
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a good driving history
• Must be a hard worker and a strong team player

General Outline of Tasks:

• Assist in maintenance tasks around campus, including cleaning bathrooms, collecting garbage and recycling, caring for trails, mowing, pruning, and other daily duties
• Support upkeep projects throughout the campus
• Help prepare the campus between sessions by reorganizing rooms, cleaning bathrooms, making beds, and sanitizing surfaces
• Stock and maintain cleaning supplies in all buildings
• Prepare the campus for special events such as student-to-student auctions, picnics, spring tours, and other activities
• Ensure the safe operation of hand tools, power tools, lawnmowers, weed whackers, shovels, rakes, etc.
• Assist with emergency clean-up and repair tasks as needed
• Attend weekly staff meetings

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather and among grass, trees, and pollen
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and traverse the rugged campus while performing assigned tasks

Compensation:

• The Maintain Assistant position requires a one-session commitment (two sessions preferred)
• May work up to but not more than 40 hours per week at $18 per hour
