This workshop will cover basic glassmaking skills from gathering out of the furnace, shaping on the marver, to working with a team at the bench. Students can expect to learn how to use tools, equipment and safety to create solid shapes, bubbles, vessels, and many other basic glass techniques. This workshop will teach students how to work together.
Christa Westbrook first discovered the art of glassmaking at the age of 16. Mesmerized by the molten glow, Westbrook decided to further her education with a BFA in Glass at Emporia State University. Working at The Corning Museum of Glass, she started her own research with color and pattern techniques.
