In this class, students will develop hot glass sculptures reflecting their personal identity by tapping into family history, cultural heritage, and significant life events. Using a variety of methods – cane, murrine and roll-ups, color application, mold-blowing, and printing - students will learn to create a visual narrative using a personal iconography, that draws inspiration from mythology and folk traditions.
Dan Friday is a member of the Lummi Nation and a Seattle based glass artist. The themes and images of Friday’s work are often drawn from his Coast Salish heritage and are solidified in the world of glass art.
Andrea Dezsö is a visual artist who works across a broad range of media including drawing, painting, sculpture, artist's books, embroidery, cut paper, and site-specific installation. Community Garden, Dezsö's mosaic in the New York City subway Dezsö is Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
