Students will have the opportunity to study two different approaches to pate de verre. In this class students will create color samples, clay models, rubber molds, waxes, and refractory molds. Students will learn to apply color in design, inlay, and layers creating painterly effects. Students will learn to reverse engineer images into pate de verre design.
Alicia Lomné has dedicated 25 years to developing her own unique style of Pâte de verre. Lomné is influenced by place and nature. She has developed a distinctive voice through color choice, design, and forms. She has exhibited and taught nationally and internationally as well as taking part in museum shows.
Originally from Japan, Suzuki received her BFA from Tulane University and her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. She's been working with glass for nearly 30 years and her pate de verre works explore her roots in Japanese culture in conjunction with her new adopted identity as an American immigrant.
