Assistant Chef & Assistant Chef/Baker

Join the culinary team at Pilchuck Glass School, where collaboration and creativity blend seamlessly in our kitchen! Under the guidance of the Head Chef, the two Assistant Chefs and Assistant Chef/Baker work together to create delicious and diverse meals while providing instruction and support to less experienced kitchen staff.

Recommended Qualifications:

• 2 years of culinary training or equivalent experience in restaurant or catering settings
• 2 years of professional culinary training
• Current ServSafe Manager Certification and Washington State Skagit County Food Handler’s Card
• Familiarity with diverse menus for brunch, lunch, dinner, and desserts/baked goods
• Experience accommodating various dietary restrictions, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan diets

General Outline of Tasks:

• Support the Head Chef in all kitchen operations
• Serve as a leader and mentor for the Kitchen Coordinator and assistants
• Coordinate the team’s needs, performance, and attendance with the Head Chef and Operations Supervisor
• Direct kitchen staff to ensure meal service runs smoothly and on time
• Supervise Kitchen Assistants, including orientation, training, assignment of duties, and food preparation
• Prepare snacks and desserts for special events and campus activities
• Oversee the setup of the food service line and manage busing operations
• Ensure maintenance of the food service area and complete other assigned duties
• Open the kitchen at the beginning and end of the season
• Arrange off-schedule meals for the Night Monitor and Driver as requested
• Attend and contribute to weekly chef and kitchen staff meetings

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift boxes, equipment, and dishes weighing up to 40 lbs
• Move throughout the kitchen and lodge for the majority of the shift

Compensation:

• Possible on-campus single occupancy room
• Work up to 40 hours per week at $22.00 per hour
