Cold Shop Assistant

As a Cold Shop Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in monitoring the studio alongside the Cold Shop Coordinator. The Cold Shop operates from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with breaks for meals, events, and artist presentations. Please note that the studio is off-limits after hours. This position is ideal for emerging glass artists with intermediate to advanced coldworking skills, and previous monitoring experience is preferred.

Recommended Experience:

• Proficiency in coldworking techniques (cutting, polishing, engraving, sandblasting, gluing, etc.)
• Experience overseeing a studio with participants of varying skill levels on diverse projects

General Outline of Tasks:

• Collaborate with the Cold Shop Coordinator on a rotating schedule to address the needs of the studio
• Assist with the technical operations of the Cold Shop
• Facilitate orientations for program participants
• Monitor safety and proper use of equipment
• Ensure the studio remains clean and safe
• Complete daily tasks assigned by the Cold Shop Coordinator
• Assist with daily clean-ups and the end-of-session tidy-up
• Attend weekly staff meetings

Compensation:

• A minimum commitment of two sessions is required for the Cold Shop Assistant position
• Work up to 40 hours per week at a rate of $20 per hour
• Room and board provided while on campus
