Print Shop Coordinator

Join the creative world of the Print Shop, a traditional printmaking studio where glass plates become art! With access to the Digital Imaging Lab, complete with computers, printers, and cutting-edge laser and vinyl cutters, you'll facilitate a vibrant environment for all campus participants. The studio operates on an appointment basis, with hours typically ranging from 9 AM to 11 PM. When classes are in session, instructors and TAs will monitor the studio outside your scheduled hours to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Recommended Experience:

• Extensive knowledge of traditional printmaking techniques (monotype, litho, etching, etc.)
• Experience with glass plate printing (vitreography)
• Familiarity with Rayzist, screen printing, and other photo transfer materials
• Proficient in digital image software
• Background in studio monitoring with varying skill levels
• Experience as a Master Printer is a plus!

General Outline of Tasks:

• Prepare the Print Shop before each session, including supplies and screens
• Provide guidance on proper studio use, materials, and supplies to participants
• Assist session participants through the printing process
• Collaborate closely with Artists in Residence and instructors to create a print series
• Operate and learn to use vinyl and laser cutters related to printing
• Schedule and monitor shop usage
• Operate the printing press for campus participants
• Coordinate sandblasting and plate engraving with the Cold Shop Coordinator and Assistant
• Manage print donations to the Pilchuck Print Collection
• Assist with registration and trimming of prints
• Implement daily clean-ups and end-of-session tidying
• Attend weekly staff meetings and program meetings

Compensation:

• Minimum two-session commitment required
• Work up to 40 hours per week at $22 per hour
• Room and board provided while on campus
