Program Assistant

The Program Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting campus activities by closely collaborating with the Program Coordinator to ensure comprehensive coverage. This position also serves as the primary coordinator for the Wilderness Craft Classes and the Fellowship program. The Program Assistant must embody a high level of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality, while also maintaining a sense of humor.

Recommended Experience:

• MFA or equivalent experience, with a keen interest in leadership at Pilchuck
• 3 to 5 years of experience within the Pilchuck Glass School education program, ideally in various roles on campus
• Highly organized and self-motivated
• Exceptional communication skills, demonstrating professional courtesy and diplomacy with Supervisors, Fellows, and program participants at all times
• Ability to execute tasks with accuracy, consistency, and efficiency, while paying attention to detail
• Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under pressure
• Comfort with public speaking, having critical conversations, and leading groups

General Outline of Tasks:

• Collaborate with the Education and Outreach Supervisor to create the Fellows’ calendar, manage a group chat with Fellows, organize meetings with Artists in Residence, and plan excursions to local artists’ studios
• Present professional development workshops for Fellows on topics such as effective slide presentations, crafting clear and concise resumes/CVs/Bios, applying for residencies, and leveraging social media as a marketing tool
• Coordinate studio usage and supplies for Wilderness Craft Classes in collaboration with the Studios Manager and Supplies and Student Services Manager
• Assist Wilderness Craft Class instructors in setting up instructional areas and welcome students to the classes
• Maintain awareness of the campus environment to foster a positive and supportive atmosphere
• Make campus announcements and introduce slide presentations in the absence of the Program Coordinator
• Collect slide presentations from instructors, Artists in Residence, teaching assistants, and artist assistants for evening showcases
• Help plan and execute campus activities, such as Student-to-Student Auctions and Walk-throughs

Compensation:

• May work up to 40 hours per week at a rate of $22 per hour
• Room and board provided while on campus
