Pilchuck Appoints Michael Endo as New Artistic Director
Please join us in welcoming our next Artistic Director, Michael Endo to Team Pilchuck!
Michael holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BA from Portland State University. His work has been featured at national and international venues, such as the National Glass Centre in Sunderland, United Kingdom; Disjecta in Portland, Oregon; Yuan Yuan Art Center in Jinan, China, and Bullseye Projects in both Portland, Oregon and Mamaroneck, New York.
In 2009, Endo began a decade-long tenure at Bullseye Projects, during which he curated numerous exhibitions, developed educational events, expanded Bullseye Glass Company’s residency program, and built partnerships with Oregon arts institutions. In 2019, he moved to Yucca Valley where he has been a Freelance Curator, and a co-Owner/director of High Desert Observatory.
“We couldn’t be more pleased that Michael has decided to join the Pilchuck family,” says Executive Director Christopher R. Taylor. “Michael has a proven track record of building partnerships, being a problem solver, and leading creative teams.”
The search was conducted by Pilchuck’s Executive Director and a search committee composed of board members and renowned artists within the Pilchuck community.
“I want to thank the search committee who stepped forward to assist in this process: Katherine Gray, Steve Klein, Paula Stokes, Preston Singletary, and Nate Watson. We also owe our gratitude to Jen Elek, who has stepped in as interim Artistic Director since December,” Taylor added.
Michael will begin his position remotely in mid-May and then will join us on campus in mid-June.
